Solo-friendly. Stress-free. Adventure-packed.
If you’ve ever dreamed of Costa Rica but felt nervous to go alone, let me share with you: this is the trip that changes everything.
In February, I booked a group tour through TourRadar — completely on a whim — and it ended up being one of the most fun, safe, and life-shifting experiences I’ve ever had.
This is the exact tour I did: Costa Rica: Ocean Waves & Sunsets
I’m sharing everything: the itinerary, the activities I chose, what others in my group did, and why this trip is perfect for first-time solo travellers, adventurous girls, and anyone who wants connection without the stress of planning.
I wanted a trip that was:
This tour ticked every single box.
I landed in San José, checked into our hostel, and within minutes I’d already met fellow travellers from my group.
You know when something instantly feels right?
That was this moment.
No awkwardness. No waiting. No “solo travel loneliness.”
We headed straight out to explore San José together — food, streets, coffee shops — and it set the tone for the whole week. Natural connection. Easy conversation. Zero pressure.
Everyone in our group was aged 24–37, all solo except two sisters, and the vibes were honestly perfect.

We were picked up early in San José, and instead of heading straight to La Fortuna, we started the morning with Pacuare River — one of the most iconic rivers in the world for rafting.
It was honestly unreal. Lush jungle, warm water, and the perfect mix of adrenaline + fun.
If you love adventure, this is the experience to start your Costa Rica trip with.
For anyone who didn’t want to raft:
They were driven straight to La Fortuna and did a wildlife safari float by kayak instead — gentle, beautiful, and perfect if you prefer calm nature spotting.
After the rafting, we were all reunited in La Fortuna — and that’s when the fun truly started.

The next morning, we did the waterfall jumping and rappelling experience — and it was honestly one of my trip highlights.
It’s the perfect balance of fear + thrill + “OMG I can actually do this.”

I also did the Arenal Ecoglide zipline + Tarzan swing.
This one is proper adrenaline — fast, scenic and that Tarzan swing??
You freefall for a split second and it is CHAOS in the best way.
Some of my group chose:
The beauty of this tour is that you choose EXACTLY what suits you.
No pressure. No FOMO. No being dragged to activities you don’t want.

After La Fortuna, we headed to the coast — and this was where the trip took an even more magical turn.
We did a full-day boat trip to Isla Tortuga with snorkelling, beaches and warm turquoise water.
It was the most Caribbean-blue water I’ve seen in Costa Rica.
This wasn’t just special — it was surreal.
Swimming in glowing blue sparkles is something I will never forget.
It genuinely didn’t feel real.

Our last day was a chill one. We hung out at Banana Beach Club — cocktails, ocean, and golden-hour perfection.
This is where you bond the most.
Laughing about the week, sharing stories, eating together, making plans for reunions.
You arrive strangers.
You leave feeling like you’ve known everyone for years.
It was an 18-39 tour but the range was between 24–37, all solo except two sisters, and everyone was there for the same reason:
Adventure. Connection. Something different.
You can pick and choose the activities that you want — meaning you never miss out on something you love.
If you’ve been scared to travel alone, this is the easiest entry point.
Built-in friends, safe structure, and no planning.
Accommodation, transport and base activities are sorted.
You just show up — and have the best 8 days of your life.

Hand on heart: this trip changed me.
It gave me confidence, connection, friendships I still have, and memories I’d never have made travelling alone.
If you’re craving adventure, want to meet likeminded girls, or you’ve been putting off your first solo trip — let this be your sign.
